Meet matt
Matt is an accomplished drummer with over 30 years of experience performing across various musical styles, including rock, ska, Big Band and pop. Getting the bug from his family’s love of music and his mother taping VCR recordings of ITVs “Night Network” concerts featuring Genesis and their drummer Phil Collins, Dire Straits, Supertramp in the 1980s, he soon found his mums wooden spoons and tupperware and began to play along. Eventually taking lessons through school he became the schools music dept “resident” drummer, playing in the orchestra and recording with other students for their GCSE compositions.
Upon leaving school he attended the Aylesbury Community Concert Band under the direction of ex RAF Central band members on disciplines and sight reading musical charts. The band toured Europe 3 times. Since then he has worked with original artists and function bands. Matt is a respected session player and versatile dep, he also sings backing vocals where needed. Clients of which include The Dung Beatles, The Loops, Whos Got The Dog and many others. As a member of Skamungas, Jagged Little Alanis and the Steve Ling Band, he is now furthering his career into teaching. With his vast amount of experience in live shows and recording Matt is passionate about sharing his love of drums with others and can’t wait to start inspiring and nurturing students!
He cites his influences to be Phil Collins, Ringo Starr, Omar Hakim & Jeff Porcaro among others and has studied under Craig Blundell.
